If you are planning on going to Arizona, Antelope Canyon had better be on your list. If Antelope Canyon is not on your travel bucket list, go and add it right now. There are so many different reasons to visit this slot canyon but our favorite reason is because of the beauty. 

Just from the Antelope Canyon trailhead, hikers and tourists can taste some of its magic. You do not have to be a professional photographer to capture effortlessly gorgeous photos. That being said, be sure to have your phone on you and make sure that it is fully charged.

While there is so much to see and do in Arizona, you will not regret your trip to Antelope Canyon. As you walk up to the Antelope Canyon trailhead, be ready to come in contact with a lot of crowds and different tour groups. 

Give yourself a second, take a deep breath, and breathe it all in. Next, be sure to have your ticket ready to go and find your group. If you cannot find your group or guide, be sure to ask someone for help. The tour guides are there to help you and can point you in the right direction.

The world has definitely gone through some serious changes throughout the past year or so. The Antelope Canyon has as well dealt with the change. Since it is owned by the Navajo Nation Government, they get to decide whether or not the canyons are opened to the public for touring. While this can put a damper on your trip, there are still a lot of other sites that can be seen while you are in Arizona.

There may be other regulations and procedures put in place that are for the safety of you and others. Make sure to follow these guidelines so that it can stay open while also being safe for the general public. These guidelines will change from time to time so make sure to check the internet. Also, check with other sources before you go.

If you decide to go during an off month that is not exactly tourist season, you may find that certain trails are not used because of the change in weather. You will have to weigh your options and the pros and cons of going in off-season months. Whatever you decide on, make sure that you have your ticket ahead of time and are ready to go have some fun.

 

Plan Ahead

The worst thing that could happen to you is that you go up to the Antelope Canyon trailhead and find out that you have to book a tour guide to go into the canyon. You then find that you can’t book the day off and are turned away from going into the slot canyons. 

 

Getting turned away from the Antelope Canyon trailhead is something that we never want to happen to anyone. The canyons, both the upper and lower, are so fun and a great experience. That being said, you will want to book your guide or tour well in advance. We are talking months ahead or at the very least at least a week ahead. Tours for all companies fill up quickly, especially during the summer months.

 

Get a Guide

Since we are a tour company, we cannot stress this enough, get a tour guide. This may seem a little biased but we have a good reason, you cannot go into the slot canyons without an official tour guide. You can walk right up to the Antelope Canyon trailhead and you will be turned away. 

This will be disappointing, especially if you had your heart set on seeing the slot canyons. Being turned away from the Antelope Canyon trailhead can be really discouraging and it is an easy fix that will prevent a lot of heartaches. Be sure to book your tour group in advance. 

This can be done online and your confirmation ticket/code will be sent to you via email. Remember that phone you are supposed to bring that is fully charged? Yes, that will also come in handy when you are trying to get from the trailhead into the slot canyons.

You have your ticket, you’ve found your tour group and guide, now get ready to have some serious fun. There is nothing quite like being out in the great outdoors while also experiencing some breathtaking views. Be ready to experience some dust and dirt and remember that you can smile even while hiking through a slot canyon. Be a little curious and you will find yourself having a great time throughout the canyon.

With all the advice that has been given, there are still other things to do and see while you are in Arizona. Just because you are going on a group tour or are being given a tour does not mean that you are going to have the same experience as everyone else that is in the canyon. You get to make your trip as unique and as special as you want. It may just take a little more effort. There is nothing wrong with planning ahead. There is definitely still room for spontaneity, you may just have to be a little more flexible.
